As owners and parents, we feel truly blessed for the gifts we have and for the privilege to be able to help women and children around the world. Recently we have been able to donate dresses to causes in our local community and in the communities of some of our valued customers. Here are some of them:
- "Springtime in Paris" presented by Peachtree Presbyterian Preschool (of which 2 of our customers are associated). Benefiting the Atlanta Day Shelter for Women and Children.
- Silent auction benefitting a mother with cancer in the community of one of our customers.
- Silent auction at the Children's Charity Walk presented by the Bryan College Station chapter of MOMS Club International. Funds raised were be donated to Scotty's House - a child advocacy center.
We are very excited to be able to use our website as an avenue to help women and children around the world through World Vision's gift catalog. We ask for $1 donations on our checkout page offering to donate a certain amount for each project ourselves. Since beginning this giving project in October 2007, our customers have donated over $1000 and we have been able to buy:
- 2 Bicycles (In countries like Cambodia and India, many girls are forced to drop out of school because they live too far away or risk dangers such as violence or kidnapping on their walking route. These bicycles will provide safe, speedy transportation for these eager young students, enabling them to achieve their dreams of education — and a brighter future.)
- 1 Sewing Machine and Training- (Poverty-stricken girls and women — including orphans, HIV-positive widows, and single mothers — are often unable to support themselves and their families. This sewing machine and training will help a girl or woman in a country like Albania, Bosnia, or Indonesia to achieve self-sufficiency and hope for the future.
- 10 Mother/Baby Kits (Many mothers in countries like Angola, Romania, and East Timor lack basic supplies and knowledge to properly care for their newborns, many of whom may be underweight or otherwise vulnerable. These kits will provide essentials such as a bassinet, diapers, a blanket, a container for clean water, a baby bathtub, and soap. Plus, pregnant women attending prenatal sessions will be trained in providing the best possible care for their precious infants.
- Maximum Impact Fund $300 donated to enable World Vision to answer specific, urgent needs of children and families that might otherwise go unmet.
